Playlist From Yesterday - ZX1

The memories that "Going Back" and "My Back Pages" bring, in this time of endless war, are ones that are hopeful and peaceful. We must now go forth with a belief that we can come to our senses, if we continue to try, and start fresh again and again until we get it right. Let us continue to try to bring about peace by collectively joining the actions of groups like the AMERICAN FRIENDS Wage Peace Campaign, or the AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL Act Now for Human Rights, or Doctors Without Borders or Save Darfur or STOP THE WAR Coalition or United for Peace and Justice, etc, etc.

Join the countless millions of people in the world that are working for a better world and a better place for people regardless of who they are by embracing strategies of peace..

History Lessons and The Concert for Bandladesh

"The Concert For Bangladesh was the event title for two concerts held on the afternoon and evening of August 1, 1971, playing to a total of 40,000 people at Madison Square Garden in New York."(WIKI PEDIA) At a time when America was on the side of the Pakistani government, George Harrison put together a concert to benefit those in need in Bangladesh (East Pakistan.) Like John Lennon, he found that his celebrity could be used to help those in need by spotlighting them. Harrison is quoted saying, "I think one of the things that I developed, just by being in the Beatles, was being bold. And I think John had a lot to do with that, you know, cause John Lennon, if he felt something strongly, he just did it. I picked up a lot of that by being a friend of John's." So Madison Square Garden raised awareness of an enormous human crisis and in the process showed that communal action can bring some help to people in need. Music and politics blended together at this concert in peace to benefit the people of Bangladesh (East Pakistan.)

"My friend came to me,
With sadness in his eyes,
He told me that he wanted help,
Before his country died,
Although I couldn't feel the pain,
I knew I'd have to try,
Now I'm asking all of you,
To help us save some lives"

G. Harrison

American Story Teller

Bruce Springsteen - songwriter/storyteller paints our lives with word pictures in memory sequences.

Ten years passed and this disk still speaks to us with same brilliant concern that John Steinbeck and Woody Guthrie showed for people in telling their stories. "The Ghost of Tom Joad" has become an American folk music classic for us today.

"Wherever there's somebody fightin'for a
place to stand
Or decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free
Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me."
